Paris Hilton 'Traumatized' & Unable To Appear At Zach Graff Civil TrialTrial

Socialite Paris Hilton is so "emotionally distraught and traumatised" since being sentenced to 45 days in jail, she cannot attend a civil trial which was set to start next Monday (May 21 2007).

Psychiatrist Dr. Charles Sophy has filed a legal declaration in which he claims Hilton is "not capable of any meaningful participation" in the civil case brought against her by diamond heiress Zach Graff.

Graff has launched her $10 million (£5 million) suit against Hilton because of the "vicious lies" the hotel heiress spread about her that ended up being printed in the New York Post newspaper.

But Sophy writes that Hilton's state of mind after being found guilty of violating her probation by driving with a suspended license means she "cannot effectively respond to examination as a witness or provide any significant input into her defence."

TMZ.com reports that the judge has postponed the trial until 22 August 2007.(source: postchronicle.com)

Schwarzenegger 'No Time' For Paris

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has refused to be drawn into Paris Hilton's jail appeal, insisting he has more pressing matters to deal with.

The desperate socialite, who was sentenced to serve 45 days in jail earlier this month after violating terms of her 2006 drink-driving arrest, has teamed up with a pal to pioneer an online petition begging the politician for a pardon.

The appeal, which is addressed to Schwarzenegger, claims "the American public who support Paris are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that drunk driving is wrong."

Earlier this week, Schwarzenegger's press secretary insisted it was premature to comment on the case, but on Friday his boss hinted that Hilton's campaign was likely to end in disappointment.

Schwarzenegger said, "I've never got any request. But I have many more important things to think about." (source: sfgate.com)

Paris Hilton might not Spend more than 3 Weeks In Jail

Despite the socialite being told she would have to serve the full term handed to her last week, now officials have admitted she's likely to get out early.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department say state law means her sentence could be halved with good behaviour, and “chronic overcrowding” will also shave time off.

Meanwhile Paris still isn’t taking any chances, and is learning karate with a personal trainer so she can protect herself in the women’s only Century Regional Detention Facility in California.

A source tells The Sun, “She’s so scared about going to jail and will do everything she can to protect herself.

“Paris has been really shaken by the threats. People are saying there’s some tough girls inside who will target her.”(source: entertainmentwise.com/)

Michelle Wie Might Still Play Against man!

Last week instructor David Leadbetter pronounced that Michelle Wie was through - at least for the time being - playing in men's tournaments. But Golf World is reporting that Leadbetter may be wrong about that.

Golf World editor Ron Sirak reports that a Wie family spokesperson says no decisions have been made. And Sirak quotes a couple sources suggesting that Wie will at least be playing in the PGA Tour John Deer Classic, with an announcement expected within the next couple weeks. See the article for details.(Read More)

Paris Hilton asking Arnold Schwarzenegger for help

Helpless Paris Hilton is turning to California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger for help.

Hilton backers are circulating a petition on the Internet urging Schwarzenegger to pardon her. The petition notes that other celebrities have had much worse driving mishaps and avoided jail time.

“Paris Hilton did not hurt, injure or kill anyone or anything, and yet she must do jail time,” the petition reads.

The petition also praises the governor: “Let me first begin by saying that I grew up as a child enjoying all of your wonderful films. You really are the truly great action hero for our time. You are doing a great job in the great state of California.”

The governor’s office said it would consider the request but suggested that Hilton should not count on a last-minute reprieve.

“Typically, he only acts in very extraordinary circumstances,” spokesman Aaron McLear said, adding that pardons are usually considered only when a defendant has exhausted all other legal remedies. “Should we receive such a request, we will treat it no differently than any other of this nature.”(source : anythinghollywood.com)

"Jail Break"? Paris Hilton had a hard time in Jail!

Paris Hilton is so pampered she doesn't read her mail.

"I have people who do that for me," she told a judge.

Legal documents and traffic citations elude her.

"I just sign what people tell me to sign," she testified.

And based on statements from Hilton and publicist Elliot Mintz — who announced Sunday that he will no longer be working for her — she apparently took legal advice from Mintz but not her lawyers.

Facing a 45-day jail sentence — and perhaps her first brush with accountability — could be a reality check for Hilton. But regardless of how she handles it, it may make her more popular than ever.

"It will actually increase her star appeal in a very sick and demented way," said longtime publicist Michael Levine. "There's a segment of our society that's somehow engaged in the soap opera that is Paris Hilton, and this a very compelling plot line in the soap opera."

A judge ordered the socialite to report to a county jail in suburban L.A. by June 5 to serve 45 days for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. Her attorney has said he will appeal.

Mintz said in a statement Sunday that he and Hilton had parted ways over an apparent "misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation."

He said Hilton was being truthful when she told a judge she believed — incorrectly, it turned out — that "it was O.K. for her to drive under certain circumstances" under the terms.(Yahoo News)
